"Going Back to Cali Cali Cali"
Our journey from Dallas to San Diego began yesterday around noon. I had every intention on attempting to push 20 hours of driving in one straight shot. When my wife and family caught whiff of this idea they quickly shot it down. My parents had a lot of experience on that route, most of those trips I was in the back seat. My wife practically grew up on the road, for he fathers job required the family to move a lot. As for me, the longest I had driven prior to this was 8 hours from Liberal, KS to Dallas, TX with my boy Mark Hall(R.I.P.) riding shotgun. I took there advice and we divided the trip into 2 parts, Dallas to Tucson and then Tucson to SD. I was cruising through Texas & New Mexico, but by the time we hit AZ soil I was ready to pass out. My eyes and feet were swollen, and my poor wife was all bent out of shape trying to get comfortable. We arrived in Tucson around 2am where I don't even remember falling asleep. After a night of much needed ZZZzzz, we arose and slid in safely to the home base. We truly thank the Lord for traveling grace and guidance...
... No issues at the many immigration check points along the way.

Celtics vs Lakers = Pops vs Son
The rivalry between the Lakers and Celtics, sparked a mini rivalry between my pop and I. We both represent our respected hometown teams, but unfortunately for him, his Mavericks fell of in the first round. So instead of just sitting back and just observing the Finals, he gets involved by wearing the official badge of Laker Hater. Before the series got underway, he was in my ear rambling about how Sheed, Big Baby, and Perkins were gonna "punk" the inside presence of the reigning defending champions. I predicted the series would go 6 games, but once they lost in game 5 he really let me have it. Game 6 was a day of silence with a solid 20 point victory which set the stage for an epic finale.
We decided to meet a couple buddies at Fox Sports Grill. Pop was confident that The Celtics would prevail tonight.
Boston was having there way in the opening quarter, but I knew that nothing would stop Kobe & The Lake Show from adding another ring to my shirt.
Pop was pumped up on early run controlled by Rondo. He stated "NOT TONIGHT! YOUR BOYS AREN'T GONNA GET IT TONIGHT!"
The crowd was going wild.
At the 5 minute mark, my boy Los was so far on the edge of his seat that he couldn't sit anymore.
Lakers took the lead and never looked back, but I was sure looking back at my boy Kirk laughing and Pop getting deflated.
It's official, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS MY FRIEND!
The Los Angeles Lakers are living the Blessed Life.

Joycie Turner Scholarship Golf Tournament
The Joycie Turner Scholarship Tournament is an annual golf event which helps provide college scholarship funding for the youth at our local church here in Dallas (Fellowship Christian Center Church). Supported by celebrities and local sponsors, the Joyce Turner Golf Tournament has risen to one of the top 3 golf tournaments in the DFW area. It was a huge success and blessing to be apart of this event.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TODAY IS... IT'S OUR ANNIVERSARY, YEAH YEAH!
June 7th, 2009 was the date that we confessed and shared our love before many. Vowing to forever love and cherish one another, from now until eternity. I remember that day quit vivid, as I should since it was only 365 days ago, feeling the spirit of the Lord in the midst of it all. Our first year of marriage was amazing to say the least. She accompanied me overseas to the Netherlands where she was my backbone and biggest fan. This past season was tough, and my faith was being shaken up on a daily. There were ample times when I just wanted to throw in the towel, but my wife stood by me, encouraged me, and prayed for me through it all. Being married does have its challenges, and it is something you must expect going into. We are all human being and no one is perfect. It takes a lifetime for two to become one, so with that said we must display patience. The enemy is so very real, and will try to do anything to place a wedge in-between something that the Lord has ordained. Matthew 18:20, is a popular scripture that stands out to me, it reads; "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them". When 2 or 3 hmmm... so 2 people make up a marriage, and if they are both serving God, and living there lives according to HIS perfect will, then that means HE will always be in there midst. The adversary views that as a threat and tries to do anything and everything to stir up drama, but the key word in that is "TRIES". So after a long/short first year of playing ball, traveling to Paris, Belgium, Brugge, and Amsterdam (pretty much every Sunday for church), we had our fair share of adventures. I thank our Lord and Savior everyday for blessing me with such a person whom I can not only call my wife, but my best friend.

In Loving Memory of an awesome man of God.
Today, I would like to honor a man of God who was called home last night. Pastor Andre L. Henderson, a former pastor of mine at Highland Park Baptist Church, was battling a year long of ill health. Throughout his life he traveled the world ministering the gospel and sharing his testimony. Even after having his sight taken away from him, he remained faithful and continued to carry out the mission the Lord had him on. When I received this news this morning I felt a sense of peace. It dawned on me that Pastor Henderson was right where the Lord wanted him to be. Speaking to my cousin Pooh about the lost opened my eyes even more to the impact in which Pastor had on our lives. Pooh expressed how Pastor explained the importance of studying the men of the Bible, and modeling our lives after those great men whom were chosen by the Lord. Henderson had a spirit filled with love and faith. His life was fruitful and effective. We will truly miss this awesome man of God.

"Ability may get you to the top, but your character keeps you there..."
In Loving Memory of the great John Wooden. Coach Wooden was a man filled with knowledge, vision, and a whole lot of positivity. A year ago today, my high school basketball coach sent me A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections on and Off the Court as a wedding gift. I had always heard what a remarkable character Coach Wooden was, but once I began to read his material I was able to taste it for myself. His impact on the game of basketball and in the hearts of MANY will never be forgotten. John Wooden is living the Blessed Life!

Greatness exits the field.
After 22 seasons in the MLB, Ken Griffey Jr hangs it up. Griffey is one of those guys everyone loved and respected not only for his smooth dominating game, but for his integrity and the way he conducted himself. As I reflect back on my little league days, I remember my teammates and I would imitate Griffey's swing. We were swinging for the fence ever time, but unlike the man, our hits didn't quite make it over the fence. 9 times out of 10 they resulted into pop flies that would get snagged by the center fielder. To match that cool swing of his, it was only right to provide him with the coolest baseball signature sneaker ever made. It would have been a pleasure to witness greatness in person. Mariners hats off to those who were given the opportunity to see 1 of 630 career home runs. Ken Griffey Jr is living the BLESSED LIFE!
