Who Knew Good Sex Would Cause So Much Sorrow? By: G. Lee Jones

Came across this enlightening write up on my friend Justified's blog. A good friend of his who leads a campus ministry group at Tuskegee University, gives his spill on how unhealthy premarital sex is for the soul. Click the link below and enjoy.

Merry Christmas!

On this Christmas day I wanted to share with everyone a part of my absolute favorite Christmas hymn. Let us remember the reason for this season.

O Holy night, the stars are brightly shining.
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh hear the angel voices!
Oh night divine! Oh night when Christ was born!
Oh night divine! Oh night! Oh night divine!

Chains shall he break for the slave is our brother,
and in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we;
Let all within us praise his holy name.
Christ is the lord, that ever, ever praise we.
Noel! Noel! Oh night;oh night divine!
Noel! Noel! Oh night; oh night divine!
Noel! Noel! Oh night; oh night divine!

Of all times, it is Christmas when we must surely realize that there can be no true worship of Him who is the Christ without giving of ourselves. At this season let us, each one, reach out a little more generously in the spirit of the Christ. It is not enough to give toys. It is not enough to give alms to those in need. That is important, yes. But it is also important that we give of ourselves. May the real meaning of Christmas distill into our hearts, that we may realize that our lives, given to us by God our Father, are really not our own, but are to be used in the service of others.

Mind over Music - Video

I came across this poem last week and it is quite intriguing. It had an instant connection with my spirit, and confirmed things in which I struggle with... MUSIC. I am an avid listener of Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Gospel, and Rap. Actually, I should have listed rap first, it being the primary genre synced into my iPod. The melody of rap music is the heart beat to why I struggle. Trying my best to hone in on the sound alone not realizing that my spirit is slowly being contaminated with filthy content. I believe that God is the creator of ALL things...including music, but some of these messages that are being produced are clearly not of Him. The world has a way of taking things and perverting them, and rap music is one of those things. Some rap music has a tendency of celebrating sin, and honoring unrighteousness. This is something I wanted to look further into, and as with all things in life we should refer to the Bible for guidance and direction. Speaking with my Pastor and family about this topic, we were able to compile a few scriptures that gave insight on this issue. The ones that stood out the most to me were:

Matthew 15:17-18
1 Cor 3:16-17
Romans 8:4-11, 16
Romans 12:1-2

I don't know about you, but I want the Holy Spirit to be with me at ALL times, so I pray in due time I will be released from this stronghold without an ounce of desire to return. What are your thoughts and scripture references if any? I'd love to hear all feedback.

This is the poem that got my wheels turning, check it out below.

Spirit of Christmas

Giving, not getting, brings to full bloom the Christmas spirit. Enemies are forgiven, friends remembered, and God obeyed. The spirit of Christmas illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world’s busy life and become more interested in people than things. To catch the real meaning of the “spirit of Christmas,” we need only drop the last syllable, and it becomes the “Spirit of Christ".

Note of Knowledge

Hard as things seem today, they will be better in the next day IF you choose to serve the Lord THIS DAY with your whole heart. Your circumstances may not be improved in all the ways which you desire. But you will have been given new strength to carry your burdens and new confidence that when your burdens become too heavy, the Lord, whom you have served, will carry what you cannot. He knows how. He prepared long ago. He suffered your infirmities and your sorrows when He was in the flesh so that He would know how to sustain you.

Cherish What We Hold

Despite the changes which come into our lives and with gratitude in our hearts, may we fill our days—as much as we can—with those things which matter most. May we cherish those we hold dear and express our love to them in word and in deed.

The Bigger Picture

NBA superstar, Allen Iverson, has decided to take an indefinite leave of absence from the the Memphis Grizzlies after Thursday's (Nov 5th) "L". We are all familiar with the dominating ability in which A.I. has been blessed. The recipient of various accolades such as Rookie of the year, MVP, and numerous All-Star appearances, but he has yet to achieve the ultimate goal, an NBA championship. With all that being said, it is safe to say that Allen Iverson is a well renowned and blessed player.

Ok, I completely understand how he is feeling. I have been a part of a losing franchise as well, and believe me, it is not fun. You work so hard, approach every moment with a positive attitude, and expect rewards to come from that... just to fall short and forced to endure disappointment.

From the things that I have learned thus far, I feel comfortable saying that I believe Allen Iverson is not making the right choice. It is easy to become selfish and at times we may feel things are not going to our plans. But what we fail to realize is that its never about our plans, but about God's plans. Allen isn't looking at the fact that he is impacting the people around him. He has younger players on his team and guys that look up to him as a standard for the sport. Sometimes you have to look outside of the box and see what your purpose is. What is Allen Iverson's purpose? I dont know, only God knows. But what I can tell you is that he needs to be out there, lead by example, play his best regardless of the outcome, be a support to his fellow teammates, and those that are watching him. Especially the children who look up to A.I.

So the bottom line here is that, no matter what our struggles may be, we must look at the bigger picture. Why am I here? Who am I here for? What can I do to make it better?

Reading the latest news on Allen Iverson, really made me look at my own bigger picture. It just gives me further understanding that it's not about me, but about the impact that I may have for those whose eyes are on me. So through all the losses, the struggles, the physical and mental pain, I will always keep me head up and trust in God.

"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him." - Job 13:15

Note of Knowledge

My flesh and my heart, faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.

PSALM 73: 26-28

Note of Knowledge

As you overcome adversity in your life, you will become stronger. Then you will be better able to help others — those who are working, in their turn, to find a safe harbor from the storms that rage about them.
